NOISE PROTECTION WALL KUMPORT, ISTANBUL
Kumport Istanbul, being one of the biggest sea ports in Turkey, has contracted convex Ltd. Şti. to build a noise protection wall on the border to the neighboring residences in order to reduce the noise emission due to the operation of the port. The feasibility study including the noise measurements and the architectural modeling of the noise protection wall has been prepared by Prof. Dr. Temel Belek from Istanbul Technical University. convex Ltd. Şti. has been responsible for the structural and architectural detail design, and in the following, for the erection of the noise protection wall.
The noise protection wall has a length of 150 m and a height of 6 m, where the distance between the posts is generally 4 m. The HEA 160 steel posts were anchored into the existing concrete pile wall. In this project, convex Ltd. Şti. has used wood-cement wall panels from DURISOL in Austria due to their high noise absorbing characteristics.
